Northern Minnesota Resort & Cabins

Come enjoy the soaring eagles and the songs of loons at Big Timber Lodge. We are perfectly located on the 3rd Crow Wing Lake near Itasca State Park, minutes from the headwaters of the Mississippi River and just 15 minutes southeast of Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Resort Lodge & Amenities

The century old log lodge has a beautiful fieldstone fireplace for those cool spring and fall evenings and a patio overlooking the lake where you can enjoy a cold drink while watching the warm summer sunsets that seem to last forever. The lodge also houses our general store, bait and tackle shop, game room, and the snack bar where pizza, hors d'oeuvres, soft drinks, and numerous other treats are served for your enjoyment.

Our popular cappuccino and coffee hour every morning is a great way to start the day. The new exercise room will help you maintain your fitness schedule - rain or shine.

Lake Cabins

Our 12 ultra clean log and knotty pine housekeeping cabins are spread along Minnesota lakeshore and are backed by 10 acres of woods and meadows.

Each cabin has a full kitchen including a microwave and all the pots, pans, plates, silverware, coffeemaker, etc. you'll need. Bed linens, charcoal grill, picnic tables, and comfortable furnishings round out your home away from home.

Cabins range in size from 1 to 5 bedrooms and can accommodate from 2 to 18 guests.See resort pictures and cabin rates.

Minnesota's Lakeside Beach

The large sandy swimming beach is protected from all boat traffic and has a long gradual slope into the water. It is a perfect place to bask in the sun, enjoy the crystal clear water and spend a beautiful summer day! A paddleboat and fun kayaks are yours to use during your stay.

Minnesota Fishing

The 3rd Crow Wing Lake is well known for producing bigger and more walleye than the average northwoods lake. Abundant Large Mouth Bass, Northerns and Crappies will round out your catch. Kids catch panfish nonstop right off our docks. With easy access by boat to 3 other lakes in the Crow Wing Chain you can always find the best fishing and then use our fish cleaning house to prepare your catch.

You can rent a fishing boat/motor, family pontoon boat or electronic fish finder at the lodge. Advice on what to use and where the fishing is hot is always free. If you bring your own boat, Big Timber Lodge has gas and oil, a concrete boat ramp and lots of dock space. See the resort map, location, and driving directions. Park Rapids & Nevis Area Attractions

Enjoying the Northern Minnesota experience of Big Timber Lodge is enough for some, but others also enjoy the variety of vacationing in the Park Rapids Area. The Heartland Trail provides 37 miles of beautiful paved trails for biking, hiking and rollerblading. We have 8 distinctive golf courses ranging form fun Par 3's 18 hole Championship courses. Your hosts are avid golfers and can direct you to the best 19th holes and fine dining in the area. Finally, take part of a day and visit the historic headwaters of the Mississippi River and the abundant wildlife as well as the sights at Itasca State Park. (See some of our local partners.)
